I Never Knew…

I never realized what a marriage license really meant. By this, I mean, what it represents legally. I came across this article while researching marriage issues. I have three daughters and need to be informed, in advance, how God wants them to marry.
My wife and I were married with a marriage license. We thought we were doing the right thing. That was 19 years ago. My thinking has changed. I don’t want the government to have jurisdiction over matters that it has no God given, or constitutional, right to do so.

I find your curiosity about this issue interesting. Although this frame of mind may have been acceptable in earlier times, the fact remains we live in a country in which the founding fathers created the consititution which allows all Americans the freedom of religion.
That being said, there are many laws which are directly affected by marriage status, such as ownership of property. For those who do not believe in God, they must protect themselves from the Government and State, which you are fearing. That protection comes from the marriage license and thereby becomes your own law.
