Why is China Buying?

Posted by Mike on 23rd June 2005

Read the story, CBS News | China Bids For U.S. Oil Company | June 23, 2005?09:30:01. There is a pattern emerging of China buying, or trying to buy U.S. businesses. This is the logical outcome of the economic policy of the U.S. China is becoming flush with cash. Cash that the corporations and people of the United States are sending China’s way. This is done in the name of corporate profits and personal comfort. We are a nation of consumers. There is a problem, in that consumption eventually devours the whole body. Our wealth, prosperity, security, and future are being thrown away with our national trade imbalance.

Cleanse Complete!

Posted by Mike on 10th June 2005

I have now finished my cleanse! Nearly four weeks of intestinal cleansing and during the last week a liver and gallbladder flush. I will not tell you that it was easy. I have eaten only vegetables and fruit for almost four weeks. With today’s results, I can tell you that it was worth it. I took a few pictures. (Warning! Don’t click on the following link if you don’t want to see these!) Here is a link to my gallstone pictures. While the book I used as a guide for the liver flush did tell me what would come out, it is altogether another thing to see it really happen! These stones were blocking my liver and gallbladder, causing them to function poorly.

It will take several more liver flushes to completely clean out my liver and gallbladder. However, each liver flush only takes one week. I won’t need to repeat the intestinal cleanse unless I decide it is needed again. If you have made it this far in this post, perhaps you would like to learn more? I used a book titled The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush: A Powerful Do-It-Yourself Tool To Optimize Your Health and Wellbeing by Andreas Moritz. Mr. Moritz does a great job of explaining the importance of the liver and its’ role in good health. His instructions for the liver and gallbladder flush are excellent. They must be followed to the letter! My only caution is some of his personal beliefs that are touched on in the book. I recommend this book if you are serious about cleaning out your liver and you stick to the chapters that relate to that topic. As far as the flush goes, I must concur with Mr. Moritz – it is amazing!

Ken Ham Blog

Posted by Mike on 10th June 2005

Ken Ham, the founder of Answers in Genesis now has a blog. I look forward to spending some time reading Ken’s blog. I heard Ken speak several years ago before Answers in Genesis got big. It was a big influence on my Christian walk and thinking. Here is a link to the Ken Ham Blog. I am also adding it to my permanent link list.

Make DSHEA the International Standard for Dietary Supplements

Posted by Mike on 8th June 2005

The Codex Alimentarius is an international food code. If you want to know more about it, here is an overview. In short, as it is written today, the Codex will impact what you will be able to get for dietary and nutritional supplements. Follow this link to the Health Action Center, where you can send an email to your United States Representative and Senators, as well as Dr. F. Edward Scarbrough, the US Manager for Codex. I urge you, that if you are a person who wants to have freedom and control over your healthcare choices, to become informed about the Codex and take action.

Another Reason to Use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)

Posted by Mike on 8th June 2005

I was reading The Bleat today and came across this complaint from James Lileks.

Everything doesn’t work. I tell you, it’s hell. The modem is shot, the old monitor I’m using is blinking short-short-long to indicate an imminent backlight failure (the new monitor is in the shop) and I can’t use my HTML software on the laptop because I lost the original activation code I got, oh, five years ago. I’ve been using upgrades ever since. No idea what the original code is.

He has lost is original product activation key and it looks like he doesn’t have many good options, except buying the software again. I gather from his writing that he uses a Mac. FOSS software may be an answer.

I don’t know his requirements, but I like Nvu for basic WYSIWYG HTML editing.
