Jowee, Thanks for the verse and the timely encouragement! (Sorry that your comment was stuck in moderation for so long.)

For everyone else, here's Galatians 2:20:

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Totally agree!

It goes for all of America as well. Credit cards, cars, our homes, everything financed. And many Christians will be in debt up to their eyeballs with credit cards, cars, and mortgages looking exactly like the world, and not set apart as we are called to be. We are to owe no many but to love him. Not $100,000 in debt because we want to by now and pay later (or want more than we can afford). The bible also says that the borrower becomes a slave to the lender. Jesus did not die for us to be slaves! We are to be FREE.

If the Lord was to tell us to move to some remote place to serve Him many of us couldn't because we have not followed his principles. No it is not a sin to borrow, but it is not recommended in the Word, it is frowned upon basically...

Lastly different topic,
I love that our government officials (elected by the people) vote different plans into effect for themselves than for us! Why has America not caught on to this?

The lesser of two evils is always still just evil. Part of the problem is that Christians put their trust in man rather than God and when they do that, then only man's wisdom makes any sense. When our trust is in the Lord, we are not worried about wasting a vote because we rely on His wisdom and in doing so our voice is never "wasted". O,the conversations I have had with Christians on this subject! You are right, it is our responsibility and duty to vote for "right" not just to win. Besides, most of the instances we read about in scripture where God works mightily on man's behalf is when the odds and numbers are impossible. Just think of how God pared down Gideon's fighting force.

The real problem with Christians voting their convictions is that so few really have any.

[...] On our next try, we purchased 39 acres in south-central Iowa. It sits on a hilltop and you can see for miles. The property has trees around the edges and in the draws. The crown of about 20 acres had been in a corn and soybean rotation for quite some time. We converted it to pasture. We started to plan our farmstead. House plans and barn plans were drawn up. Only one problem. How do we manage the building project when we live 50 miles away? [...]
